In Wrasslin’ Rita’s defense, Big Jimmy Dong was a real butthead! I think that ‘Desperate Living’ is the most diabolically funny of John Waters’ movies.

    I agree about DESPERATE LIVING, ’tis my favorite too! No Divine, but plenty of memorable characters and lines!

    • I understand that in Germany, it’s seen as a kind of political cautionary tale. A world of mortified lesbians ruled by an evil queen. I totally see how it could be worthy of scholarly research.

    • In Germany, it’s considered to almost be a documentary into the failings of monarchies. Every time I see it, I understand that it, more than any other Waters’ film, is worthy of scholarly study.
