I am sooo tired, but I just have to tell you about the meal that Anna and I had tonight at Corner BYOB in Hampden. It was probably the best meal we’ve eaten this year. We went soup to nuts. Wonderful cheese plate featuring cheeses from the Cherry Glen cheese making place farm thing started us off. The servers even caramelized two of the cheeses with a blow torch as if she was about to serve us a creme brulee. Crazy, right?!
Well I don’t have any photos of the fromage but Anna snapped some cool shots that she instagrammed of the rest of the meal. Anna had this insane bone in pork chop.
And I had this perfectly cooked Antelope filet.
Another great thing about CornerBYOB is that it was, for many years, The Avenue Diner. My man, Spencer Stewart, aka, “The Diner Hunter” would have loved it back then. What he would appreciate now is that they kept the old diner barstools that have been the first thing that visitors see when they enter the place for years. It used to look like this:
And now, it doesn’t look a whole lot different!
Any old who…dinner was truly a work of art and the servers worked really well together in kind of an old front waiter/back waiter kind of way. Look how wonderful coffee and dessert were:
So go and do it now. Oh yeah, if you drink, take your own wine…it’s BYOB after all! We just drank some ginger ice tea. Good stuff.
